Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Greater Perth in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (78,833 males or 14.3%)
  • Mining (54,507 males or 9.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (47,185 males or 8.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 180,525 males in total or 32.8% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, New South Wales employed 14.1% in Construction; 1.6% in Mining; and 9.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Greater Perth and New South Wales were:
