Analysis of the household/family types in Regional VIC in 2021 compared to Regional Australia shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.1% were one-parent families, compared with 24.6% and 10.5% respectively for Regional Australia.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 27.5% compared to 25.5% in Regional Australia while the proportion of couples without children was 28.0% compared to 27.6% in Regional Australia.
The number of households in Regional VIC increased by 71,101 between 2016 and 2021.
