Dominant groups
Analysis of the male five year age groups of South Australia in 2021 compared to Northern Territory shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 17.8% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 18.6% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.7% and 11.9% respectively for Northern Territory.
The major differences between the male age structure of South Australia and Northern Territory were:
- A larger percentage of males aged 75 to 79 (3.6% compared to 1.9%)
- A larger percentage of males aged 85 and over (2.1% compared to 0.4%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (6.7% compared to 8.7%)
