Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of Greater Darwin in 2021 compared to Victoria shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.9% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 11.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.3% and 17.6% respectively for Victoria.

The major differences between the female age structure of Greater Darwin and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 25 to 29 (9.0% compared to 7.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 30 to 34 (9.6% compared to 7.8%)
