Analysis of the household/family types in Alexandrina Council in 2021 compared to Regional SA shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 20.9% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.0% were one-parent families, compared with 21.2% and 9.0% respectively for Regional SA.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.9% compared to 28.7% in Regional SA while the proportion of couples without children was 36.3% compared to 29.8% in Regional SA.
