Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Rural West in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (154 males or 23.2%)
- Construction (94 males or 14.2%)
- Retail Trade (45 males or 6.8%)
In combination, these three industries employed 293 males in total or 44.1% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Australia employed 3.1% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 14.7% in Construction; and 7.8% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Rural West and Australia were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (23.2% compared to 3.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (2.7% compared to 8.3%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in manufacturing (3.9% compared to 8.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (2.9% compared to 5.8%)
