Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Adelaide Hills Council in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (2,446 females or 23.8%)
- Education and Training (1,671 females or 16.3%)
- Retail Trade (894 females or 8.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 5,011 females in total or 48.7% of the total employed female resident population.
In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 26.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.0% in Education and Training; and 10.7% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Adelaide Hills Council and Greater Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (16.3% compared to 13.0%)
- A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.7% compared to 0.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (23.8% compared to 26.8%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (8.7% compared to 10.7%)

The number of employed females in Adelaide Hills Council increased by 892 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Adelaide Hills Council were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+207 females)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+122 females)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+112 females)
- Public Administration and Safety (+99 females)
