Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Adelaide Hills Council in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,446 females or 23.8%)
  • Education and Training (1,671 females or 16.3%)
  • Retail Trade (894 females or 8.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 5,011 females in total or 48.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Aldgate employed 23.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 18.0% in Education and Training; and 7.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Adelaide Hills Council and Aldgate were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in manufacturing (5.0% compared to 2.1%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.7% compared to 1.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.0% compared to 11.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (16.3% compared to 18.0%)
