Dominant groups

Analysis of individual income levels in ACT peri-urban area in 2021 compared to Yass Valley Council area shows that there was a higher proportion of people earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income people (those earning less than $500 per week).

Overall, 22.8% of the population earned a high income, and 24.2% earned a low income, compared with 19.0% and 26.1% respectively for Yass Valley Council area.

The major differences between ACT peri-urban area's individual incomes and Yass Valley Council area's individual incomes were:

  • A larger percentage of persons who earned $3,500 or more (7.4% compared to 4.5%)
  • A larger percentage of persons who earned $1,500 - $1,749 (9.0% compared to 7.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons who earned $400 - $499 (4.2% compared to 5.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons who earned $650 - $799 (5.2% compared to 6.1%)
