Analysis of the families with children in ACT peri-urban area in 2021 compared to Yass Valley Council area shows that there was a similar proportion of couples with young children, and a larger proportion of couples with older children.
Overall, 18.4% of total households with children were couple with young children, and 19.4% were couples with older children, compared with 18.4% and 11.6% respectively for Yass Valley Council area.
There were a smaller proportion of single parent households with young children and a similar proportion of single parent households with older children. Overall, the proportion of single parent households with young children was 1.4% compared to 3.0% in Yass Valley Council area while the proportion of single parent households with older children was 3.9% compared to 4.3% in Yass Valley Council area.
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of households with children increased by 17 households or 5.0%.
