Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in North Richmond in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,447 people or 16.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,116 people or 13.0%)
  • Retail Trade (712 people or 8.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,275 people in total or 38.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Yarra employed 18.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 7.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of North Richmond and the City of Yarra were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (7.3% compared to 5.9%)
