Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in North Richmond in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,447 people or 16.8%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (1,116 people or 13.0%)
- Retail Trade (712 people or 8.3%)
In combination, these three industries employed 3,275 people in total or 38.1% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, the City of Yarra employed 18.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 7.5% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of North Richmond and the City of Yarra were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (7.3% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (16.8% compared to 18.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (7.7% compared to 9.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (5.6% compared to 6.8%)

- Education and Training (+120 persons)
