Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Central Richmond in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,723 people or 19.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,173 people or 12.9%)
  • Education and Training (782 people or 8.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,678 people in total or 40.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Yarra employed 18.8% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.3% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Central Richmond and the City of Yarra were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in financial and insurance services (7.3% compared to 5.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (6.3% compared to 5.0%)
