Location and boundaries

Toukley is bounded by Budgewoi Lake in the north and west, the localities of Budgewoi and Noraville in the east and the locality of Noraville, Reynolds Road, Bundara Road, Evans Road, Belbowrie Street, Hibbard Street, Crossingham Street and Tuggerah Lake in the south.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1820s, with land used mainly for timber-getting. Some growth took place in the 1880s. Significant development did not occur until the 1970s, with rapid growth into the 1980s. The population generally increased slightly between 1991 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area.

Toukley is a residential area, with substantial parklands and commercial areas.

Major features of the area include Toukley Golf Club, Toukley Shopping Centre, Toukley Aquatic Centre, Bert Edmunds Reserve, Harry Moore OAM Oval, Osborne Park, Toukley Gardens, Toukley Village Green, Canton Beach, the Beachcomber Hotel, Toukley Community Hall and the Toukley Bridge.
