Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Point Cook in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (3,720 people or 11.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (3,618 people or 11.1%)
  • Retail Trade (2,879 people or 8.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 10,217 people in total or 31.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Western Region employed 7.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 12.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Point Cook and Western Region were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.4% compared to 7.9%)
