Dominant groups

Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Non-English speakers speaking population of Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to the total population in Wollongong City Council shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a larger proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).

Overall, 63.4% of the overseas born Non-English speakers speaking population arrived before 2010, and 21.1% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 72.9% and 13.9% respectively for the total population in Wollongong City Council.

The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Non-English speakers speaking population of Wollongong City and the total population in Wollongong City Council were:
