Dominant groups
Analysis of the language spoken at home by recent overseas arrivals in Wollongong City Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).
Overall, 21.0% of recent overseas arrivals spoke English only, and 77.9% spoke a non-English language, compared with 24.2% and 73.6% respectively for Regional NSW.
