Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Whittlesea in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (10,756 males or 18.9%)
  • Manufacturing (6,227 males or 10.9%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (5,808 males or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 22,791 males in total or 40.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 15.2% in Construction; 9.0% in Manufacturing; and 7.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Whittlesea and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (18.9% compared to 15.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (10.2% compared to 7.2%)
