Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of people born overseas in the City of Whitehorse in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Whitehorse shows that 91.6% of people born overseas were in households that owned at least one car, while 7.3% did not, compared with 92.1% and 4.8% respectively in the total population in the City of Whitehorse.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion that owned just one car; a smaller proportion owned two cars; and a smaller proportion that owned three cars or more.

Overall, 36.1% of people born overseas were in households that owned one car; 40.3% owned two cars; and 15.2% owned three cars or more, compared with 29.2%; 43.5% and 19.4% respectively for the total population in the City of Whitehorse.
