Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mile End in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (419 people or 16.3%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (281 people or 10.9%)
  • Retail Trade (244 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 944 people in total or 36.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of West Torrens employed 18.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 7.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Mile End and the City of West Torrens were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (10.9% compared to 7.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (8.4% compared to 7.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (16.3% compared to 18.1%)
