Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the population in the City of West Torrens in 2016 compared to Greater Adelaide shows that there was a larger proportion of people born overseas, as well as a larger proportion of people from a non-English speaking background.

Overall, 30.6% of the population was born overseas, and 25.3% were from a non-English speaking background, compared with 26.3% and 17.0% respectively for Greater Adelaide.

The largest non-English speaking country of birth in the City of West Torrens was India, where 4.6% of the population, or 2,637 people, were born.
