Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the 1840s, with land used mainly for market gardens, vineyards, farms and dairies. Growth took place from the 1880s, continuing into the early 1900s and during the interwar period. The most significant development occurred during the post-war years. The Adelaide Airport was constructed in 1955. The population increased gradually from the mid 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
