In Malvern, 78% of households were purchasing or fully owned their home, 16.8% were renting privately, and 0.4% were in social housing in 2016.

Malvern's Housing Tenure data provides insights into its socio-economic status as well as the role it plays in the housing market. Dominant groups

Analysis of the housing tenure of the population of Malvern in 2016 compared to City of Unley shows that there was a larger proportion of households who owned their dwelling; a larger proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.

Overall, 44.3% of the population owned their dwelling; 33.2% were purchasing, and 17.5% were renting, compared with 33.3%, 29.3% and 29.9% respectively for City of Unley.
