Dominant groups

Analysis of the housing tenure of low income households in Tweed Shire Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a larger proportion low income households who owned their dwelling; a larger proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.

Overall, 59.0% of people in low income households were in fully owned dwellings; 11.0% had a mortgage, and 24.2% were renting, compared with 54.5%, 9.4% and 30.3% respectively for Regional NSW.
