Analysis of the housing tenure for people reporting a need for assistance in Tweed Shire Council in 2021 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a larger proportion of people with a need for assistance in households who owned their dwelling; a smaller proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a smaller proportion who were renters.

Overall, 49.3% of people reporting a need for assistance were in households who owned their dwelling; 19.1% were purchasing, and 26.7% were renting, compared with 44.9%, 20.7% and 29.8% respectively for Regional NSW.
