Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by recent overseas arrivals in Tweed Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Community and Personal Service Workers (176 persons or 21.4%)
  • Professionals (159 persons or 19.3%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (150 persons or 18.2%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 485 people in total or 59.0% of the employed recent overseas arrivals.

In comparison, Regional NSW employed 15.9% in Community and Personal Service Workers; 21.5% in Professionals; and 12.7% in Technicians and Trades Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the recent overseas arriving population of Tweed Shire and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (18.2% compared to 12.7%)
  • A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (21.4% compared to 15.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of people employed as Labourers (15.7% compared to 24.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (19.3% compared to 21.5%)
