Dominant groups

Analysis of the female service age groups of Toowoomba in 2021 compared to Wilsonton Heights shows that there was a similar proportion of females in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 22.8% of the female population was aged between 0 and 17, and 26.4% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 22.5% and 25.1% respectively for Wilsonton Heights.

The major differences between the female age structure of Toowoomba and Wilsonton Heights were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Frail aged' (3.0% compared to 1.7%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Seniors' (11.9% compared to 10.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (11.5% compared to 12.9%)
