Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Toowoomba City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (177 people or 19.2%)
  • Education and Training (113 people or 12.3%)
  • Retail Trade (101 people or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 391 people in total or 42.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greenmount - Nobby and District employed 13.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.0% in Education and Training; and 8.2% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Toowoomba City and Greenmount - Nobby and District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (19.2% compared to 13.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (9.2% compared to 3.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (2.8% compared to 18.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (6.5% compared to 11.0%)
