Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Clifton and District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (305 people or 26.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (161 people or 14.0%)
  • Education and Training (108 people or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 574 people in total or 50.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Toowoomba employed 5.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 18.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Clifton and District and Toowoomba were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (26.6% compared to 5.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (14.0% compared to 18.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (3.0% compared to 6.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (3.6% compared to 5.8%)
