Dominant groups
Analysis of the female five year age groups of Toowoomba in 2021 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 18.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 20.5% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 17.5% and 19.6% respectively for Regional QLD.
The major differences between the female age structure of Toowoomba and Regional QLD were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 85 and over (3.0% compared to 2.4%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 55 to 59 (6.0% compared to 6.7%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 45 to 49 (6.0% compared to 6.6%)

From 2011 to 2021, Toowoomba's female population increased by 11,743 people (15.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.42% per year over the period.
The largest changes in female age structure in this area between 2011 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+1,682 females)
- 65 to 69 (+1,253 females)
- 30 to 34 (+1,236 females)
- 75 to 79 (+1,194 females)
