Analysis of the family blending in Oakey District in 2021 compared to Toowoomba shows that there was a higher proportion of step families as well as a higher proportion of blended families. Overall, 14.4% of total couple families with children were step families, and 9.4% were blended families, compared with 10.3% and 5.1% respectively for Toowoomba.
