Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (31,402 people or 32.5%)
  • Managers (18,196 people or 18.9%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (14,436 people or 15.0%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 64,034 people in total or 66.4% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, West Ward employed 35.3% in Professionals; 17.9% in Managers; and 15.5% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of The Hills Shire and West Ward were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (9.5% compared to 8.2%)
