Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in The Hills Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (9,468 females or 20.4%)
  • Education and Training (6,639 females or 14.3%)
  • Retail Trade (4,670 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 20,777 females in total or 44.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 21.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.6% in Education and Training; and 9.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of The Hills Shire and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (14.3% compared to 12.6%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in construction (4.1% compared to 2.9%)
