Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s, with land used mainly for agriculture and viticulture. Significant development did not occur until the 1970s, with rapid growth till the late 1980s. The population declined gradually from the early 1990s, a result of little change in dwelling stock and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
