Location and boundaries

Hope Valley is bounded by the Northeast Busway (O-Bahn), Reservoir Road, Pompoota Road and Doradus Avenue in the north, Hancock Road, Barracks Road and Amber Road in the east, a line running continuous of Trafford Road, Trafford Road, Awoonga Road, Lower North East Road and Lyons Road in the south and the western boundary of Hope Valley Reservoir, Lambert Avenue, Delray Avenue and Grand Junction Road in the west.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1830s, with a township established in the 1840s. Hope Valley was the earliest settlement in the City of Tea Tree Gully. The Hope Valley Reservoir was constructed in 1872. Significant development did not occur until the 1950s and 1960s. The population increased marginally between 1991 and 2006 as new dwellings were added to the area. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 2006 and 2011.
