Fairview Park - Yatala Vale is bounded by the suburb of Golden Grove, Seaview Road and Mudge Road in the north, the localities of Upper Hermitage and Banksia Park in the east, Grenfell Road in the south and Hancock Road in the west.

Name origin

Fairview Park is named after the original housing estate in the area. Yatala Vale is named from an Aboriginal word meaning "water running by the side of a river".

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s. Significant development did not occur until 1963 when the initial subdivision of Fairview Park commenced. Rapid growth took place during the 1960s and 1970s. The population declined slightly from the early 1990s, a result of little change in dwelling stock and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Fairview Park - Yatala Vale is an established residential area, with semi-rural areas in the east.
