Dominant groups

Analysis of the language used at home by the population of Waterloo - Zetland in 2021 compared to Surry Hills shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who used English only, and a larger proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 48.9% of the population used English only, and 44.0% used a non-English language, compared with 66.8% and 25.6% respectively for Surry Hills.

The dominant language used at home, other than English, in Waterloo - Zetland was Mandarin, with 16.3% of the population, or 4,729 people using this language at home.
