Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Newtown in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (365 females or 17.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (338 females or 15.8%)
  • Education and Training (271 females or 12.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 974 females in total or 45.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, the City of Sydney employed 18.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.3% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Newtown and the City of Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (12.6% compared to 9.3%)
