Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Kings Cross in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (234 females or 19.8%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (150 females or 12.7%)
  • Financial and Insurance Services (114 females or 9.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 498 females in total or 42.1% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Harris Street Village Area employed 17.2% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 11.0% in Financial and Insurance Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Kings Cross and Harris Street Village Area were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (19.8% compared to 17.2%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in information media and telecommunications (5.1% compared to 3.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (6.0% compared to 8.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (7.9% compared to 9.9%)
