Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Newtown in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (786 people or 18.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (534 people or 12.2%)
  • Education and Training (481 people or 11.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,801 people in total or 41.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Glebe - Forest Lodge employed 19.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 11.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 12.0% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Newtown and Glebe - Forest Lodge were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (7.2% compared to 5.5%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in other services (4.0% compared to 2.7%)
