Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of females in the City of Sydney compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of females who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.0% of the female population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.6% for Greater Sydney.
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance in the City of Sydney and Greater Sydney were:
- A smaller percentage of females aged 75 to 79 (16.8% compared to 20.1%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 70 to 74 (10.3% compared to 13.0%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 85 and over (49.7% compared to 51.9%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 65 to 69 (7.9% compared to 9.4%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Sydney were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+85 females)
- 80 to 84 (+74 females)
- 85 and over (+51 females)
