Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of females in the City of Sydney compared to New South Wales shows that there was a lower proportion of females who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.0% of the female population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.1% for New South Wales.
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance in the City of Sydney and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of females aged 80 to 84 (32.7% compared to 30.7%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 85 and over (49.7% compared to 51.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 20 to 59 (1.1% compared to 2.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females aged 70 to 74 (10.3% compared to 11.7%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Sydney were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+85 females)
- 80 to 84 (+74 females)
- 85 and over (+51 females)
