Dominant groups
Analysis of the ancestry responses of the population in Chinatown and CBD South Village Area in 2021 shows that the top five ancestries nominated were:
- Chinese (7,281 people or 36.5%)
- Thai (3,142 people or 15.8%)
- English (1,965 people or 9.9%)
- Indonesian (1,791 people or 9.0%)
- Australian (936 people or 4.7%)
In combination these five ancestries account for 15,115 responses in total, or 75.78% of all responses.
The major differences between the ancestries of the population in Chinatown and CBD South Village Area and the City of Sydney were:
