Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Sutherland Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (17,958 females or 31.0%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (14,133 females or 24.4%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (7,962 females or 13.7%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 40,053 females in total or 69.0% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Yowie Bay employed 33.6% in Professionals; 25.4% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 11.5% in Community and Personal Service Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Sutherland Shire and Yowie Bay were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (13.7% compared to 11.5%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Labourers (3.0% compared to 1.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Professionals (31.0% compared to 33.6%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Sales Workers (9.5% compared to 11.6%)

The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Sutherland Shire were for those employed as:
