Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Cronulla in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,259 people or 12.7%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,195 people or 12.1%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,024 people or 10.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,478 people in total or 35.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Sutherland Shire employed 11.3% in Construction; 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Cronulla and Sutherland Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (12.7% compared to 11.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (6.8% compared to 8.3%)
