Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types in Sutherland in 2021 compared to Oyster Bay shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 22.4% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.8% were one-parent families, compared with 53.7% and 7.8% respectively for Oyster Bay.
There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 33.7% compared to 11.9% in Oyster Bay while the proportion of couples without children was 25.3% compared to 24.0% in Oyster Bay.
