Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in Sutherland Shire Council compared to Cronulla shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.6% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 3.5% for Cronulla.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Ward B and Cronulla were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (47.9% compared to 34.9%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (5.6% compared to 3.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (21.8% compared to 19.3%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (12.2% compared to 9.8%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in Ward B were in the age groups:
- 20 to 59 (+201 persons)
- 85 and over (+141 persons)
- 10 to 19 (+100 persons)
- 5 to 9 (+68 persons)
