Analysis of the five year age groups of Inner West Council area in 2021 compared to SSROC region shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 14.6% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 14.1% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 15.7% and 15.1% respectively for SSROC region.
The major differences between the age structure of Inner West Council area and SSROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 45 to 49 (7.5% compared to 6.5%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 40 to 44 (7.7% compared to 6.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (6.2% compared to 7.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 15 to 19 (4.1% compared to 4.9%)
