Analysis of the household/family types in Rural North East in 2021 compared to South Gippsland Shire shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 25.3% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.4% were one-parent families, compared with 23.2% and 8.3% respectively for South Gippsland Shire.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 22.5% compared to 27.6% in South Gippsland Shire while the proportion of couples without children was 32.9% compared to 31.0% in South Gippsland Shire.
