Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in South Gippsland Shire in 2021 compared to Nyora - Poowong and District shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 23.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.3% were one-parent families, compared with 32.5% and 6.8% respectively for Nyora - Poowong and District.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 27.6% compared to 17.9% in Nyora - Poowong and District while the proportion of couples without children was 31.0% compared to 33.3% in Nyora - Poowong and District.
