Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Safety Bay in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (444 people or 13.2%)
  • Construction (370 people or 11.0%)
  • Education and Training (343 people or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,157 people in total or 34.5% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Secret Harbour employed 12.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Construction; and 9.7% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Safety Bay and Secret Harbour were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.8% compared to 6.7%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (13.2% compared to 12.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in mining (6.9% compared to 9.6%)
